Termyte
this insect, which was native to the planet Kubindi, was considered a tender delicacy by the Kubaz race. Most termytes were wood-boring insects that continued to grow throughout their lifecycle, during which time they gnawed a network of caves and tunnels into the tree trunk in which it lived. Because the termyte kept growing as it fed, it became trapped within its tree, as the original hole it bored into the tree was too small to allow its body to pass through. Because of this, termytes laid their eggs in the branches of the trees, so that their larvae can begin burrowing into the tree and work their way downward as they grew. In this way, mature termytes could emerge from a tree trunk near the ground. During the mating season, the females then climbed back up to lay their eggs.
