this form of Adegan crystal was discovered to be weaker in form than the mephite crystal, making it less suitable for use in the construction of a combat-ready lightsaber. Relacite was only marginally stronger tham kathracite, and was often used in the construction of training lightsabers, where the power throughput was much smaller. It could also be used in a true lightsaber in an emergency, but there was still a risk of explosion if too much power was forced through the crystal.
