this was a slang term used by Alliance pilots to describe a TIE Fighter. The name arose from the fragile nature of the TIE Fighter, as well as the round shape of its cockpit. This term gave rise to many other related terms, such as Egg Basket, which referred to a wing of TIE Fighters.
