Empire Day
this was the name given to the day on which Chancellor Palpatine declared himself the Emperor, and instituted the New Order, in the wake of the Clone Wars. For the next two decades, Empire Day was celebrated each year to mark the point at which - at least, according to Imperial propaganda - Emperor Palpatine eliminated the corruption of the Jedi Order and unified the galaxy. The celebration of Empire Day varied from planet to planet, but the massive propaganda campaign ensured that it was celebrated on Imperial-controlled worlds throughout the galaxy. Many Alliance cells planned their disruptive operations to coincide with Empire Day events, in an attempt to foster discontent with the Empire.
