this was the callsign of one of the multitude of clone troopers who fought for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, serving under the command of Jedi Master Shaak Ti. A-1707's gunship was forced to crash-land on a remote jungle world about a year after the Battle of Geonosis, and A-1707 was the only member of his squad to survive the next two decades. His presence on the jungle world was discovered by Commander Narra and Luke Skywalker, during the search for a new Alliance base in the wake of the Battle of Yavin. The Alliance forces scouting the planet had been tracked by Imperial forces, and ambushed once they were on the ground. A-1707 had also been tracking the Alliance team, and was unsure how to proceeed when he saw Imperial stormtroopers chasing them through the jungle. Narra, in order to gain A-1707's confidence, explained the state of the galaxy since the Clone Wars, and indicated that Luke was a Jedi Knight as well as a "General" in the military. A-1707's ingrained training kicked in, and he agreed to support Narra's forces. A-1707 - who preferred to simply be called Able - assisted the Alliance forces in defeating the Imperials, and was helped off the planet by Skywalker during the Alliance's retreat. Able agreed to join the Alliance's Intelligence agency, and was later part of the assault team that infiltrated the Imperial labor colony on Kalist VI, about eight months after the Battle of Yavin.
