Bivalva contemplativa
this curious mollusk was native to the planet Perilix, and was known among the xeno-ethnologists of the galaxy as the thinking clam. This name was based on the unusual form of multigenerational narrative semaphores that individual members seemed to produce. Opponents of the theory that the bivalva contemplativa was sentient claimed that these semaphores were nothing more than hive-building signals.
