this was a custom form of ordnance created for the clone commandos of the Grand Army of the Republic. A frightener was designed to create large amounts of noise and light, but lacked any real destructive power. They were used to frighten an opponent into movement, especially if a target was hidden behind a wall or otherwise out of the line of fire.
