this unusual weapon was developed during the early years of the New Republic, when it became popular among crimelords to freeze their enemies in carbonite. The carbon freeze gun was essentially a spray tube that would cover a target with liquid carbonite. The carbonite would freeze shortly after hitting the atmosphere, encasing the target in a thin layer of solid material.
