this small surveillance device was created during the last decades of the Old Republic, and saw prominent use among the Hutt crimelords of the early years of the New Order. They were not intelligent enough to classify as droids, but their programming was nonetheless quite sophisticated for a device of its size. Each crab tracer was equipped with a tiny hypertransceiver, and could transmit its location to a central source via the HoloNet.
