Chak-root
this bright green, fern-like plant was native to the planet Erysthes. The plant's large, reddish roots were dried and ground up to make an illegal substance that was often smuggled for a large profit. It was used for smoking or chewing, much like tobacco. In this dried form, chak-root was so dark in color that it was almost black, and it gave off a noxious smoke when improperly cured. When chewed, chak-root caused a chemical reaction that turned the saliva a deep red color.
