this deciduous, hardwood tree was native to the planet Trindello. Its strong wood was harvested and exported to many worlds in the Moddell Sector, for use in construction and furniture making. Xenobotanists discovered that individual Trindellian oaks were not free-standing trees, but shoots that grew from a shared root system. Individual oaks were fast-growing trees, reaching enormous heights in just a few decades. When harvested, Trindellian oaks yielded an unusual, dark green wood that was nearly as hard as iron. The scientists who studied the Trindellian oaks warned of the possibility of extinction if the trees were overharvested, but the logging corporations chose to ignore the warnings. The loggers who worked in the forests had to be careful not to disturb the kargul worms that lived at the heart of each oak cluster.
