Whipcord
this was the generic term used to describe any flexible cord which was contained in a launching mechanism for ejection toward a target. They were most often used as climbing tool, with a grappling hook at the end. The whipcord was shot toward a target, and could be retracted to assist in climbing or to pull an object toward the user.
