this bronze-colored astromech droid was assigned to the new Jedi starfighter used by Obi-Wan Kenobi, during the last months of the Clone Wars. R4-G9 replaced the trusty astromech R4-P17, which had been destroyed during the First Battle of Coruscant. Luckily for Obi-Wan, in his distrust of droids and flying, he had performed several dumps of R4-P17's computer core to that of R4-G9, ensuring that his entire flying history was recorded. On Utapau, Obi-Wan had R4-G9 fly off in control of the Jedi's starfighter, in an effort to fool General Grievous into believing that Obi-Wan himself was leaving the planet.
