this was the designation of the Merr-Sonn Missile System developed for use by Imperial rocket troopers. The M-SMS was a simplified version of the basic rocket launcher, lacking any form of homing or heat-seeking capabilities. Because the weapon had to be carried while in flight, it was armed with just three missiles to cut down on weight.
