this construct was used by the Yuuzhan Vong to set apart the thrones of their leaders, primarily the Warmaster and Supreme Overlord. The blood moat was exactly what its name implied, a circular trough which was filled with the blood of their enemies, surrounding the throne and setting it apart from the rest of a structure.
