Galactic North
in order to ascertain and provide direction in the void of space, pilots and navigators modified conventional thoughts of directions. Given that Galactic East was defined as the direction in which the galaxy spins, Galactic North was defined as the direction in which one would fly to move toward the "top" of the galaxy, at a right angle to Galactic East.
