this unusual piece of technology was developed to allow individuals to meet face-to-face without having their true identities discovered. The shadowcloak provided two forms of protection. First, it used speciallized scramblers to alter the user's voice beyond any recognition. Second, the covered the user with a field of blackness that completely masked their appearance.
