this Old Republic Governor of the planet Bryx managed to keep the early Imperial armed forces at bay when they tried to subjugate Bryx. He set up a system of ground-based guns and submersible fighters to combat the Empire. His defensive tactic were later known as the "Carigan Defense," although he eventually was overwhelmed by the Empire.
