this was the generic term for any failsafe device which could be triggered in case a military position was breached or infiltrated. Hidden within the mutiny box, which was controlled by the base commander, were switches that triggered the self-destruct mechanisms on weapon emplacements other defenses. Essentially, the mutiny box prevented traitorous forces from gaining control of one's weaponry.
