Thyssel
this bark of this tree, which was native only to Haruun Kal, was considered an exotic spice. Because the thyssel tree grew only on Haruun Kal, it was quite expensive. The native Korunnai often chewed the bark of the thyssel raw, as a kind of stimulant. Those individuals who chewed thyssel bark were easily distinguished by the scarlet-red color of their teeth. When properly roasted and refined, the bark was ground into a spice which provided a sharp taste that gave the eater a slight sensation of euphoria. When not fully refined and dried, thyssel bark retained enough moisture to be chewed as a stimulating intoxicant, about as potent as sweet wine. In its raw form, however, thyssel bark could cause permanent brain damage.
