this was the name given to the Old Republic's attempt to liberate the planet Atraken from the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, during the early stages of the Clone Wars. The Old Republic military claimed that Operation Katabatic was a tactical success, acknowledging that the biochemical weapons unleashed by the Separatists killed off nearly ninety percent of the population of Atraken.
