Trace-scrambler
this device was used in conjunction with a standard comlink, to scramble a transmission and prevent any beings who were searching for the comlink's owner from actually locating them. While the trace-scrambler did not mask the actual transmission of the comlink, it did encrypt the transmission enough to disable most triangulation sensors from pinpointing its location.
