this deep-space void was believed to have been devoid of any form of life, according to Alliance starcharts at the time of the Battle of Hoth. However, Y-Wing pilot Zan Porpu mistakenly dropped out of hyperspace in this area, and discovered that the Empire was secretly testing TIE Fighter prototypes in the area. Porpu's ship was shot to bits, although it was believed Porpu managed to eject from the ship.
