this was the name used to describe Shipyard Lab 6671-X42, a joint venture to produce droid starships by the Corellian Engineering Corporation and the Loronar Corporation. It was known as the Nerfworks because the employees who worked there came to feel that they "smelled too bad" to warrant a visit from corporate executives, as well as any real funding for their research.
