this was the term used to describe the regular erasure of certain parts of a droid's computer memory. Ostensibly, a memory wipe removed all personality quirks and provided a clean code base on which to upgrade a droid's programming. Many droid owners used memory wipes to maintain stability in their droids. Most intelligent droids feared memory wipes, since they deprived them of "life."
