Yanskac
this deadly creature was a source of food to the Yuuzhan Vong. A ridge of eight-centimeter-long spines ran along its dorsal surface, each spine a hollow needle used to inject poison into its prey. The tail of the yanskac was also used as a weapon, whipping the barbed tip at its target. The chelipeds of the yanskac were used to grip its prey and tear away hunks of flesh to consume. Yuuzhan Vong warriors often consumed yanskacs as a source of nourishment as well as a trial which proved the warrior had come a long way toward perfection. The yanskac flesh was seared over an open flame, while the innards were discarded. Once the flesh inside the chelipeds swelled and burst the shell, the meat was ready to eat.
