this protocol droid was owned by Senator Drextar Pym, who had the droid programmed to care for his two sins, Kyle and Dirv. When Kyle and Dirv were kidnapped by Imperial fanatics, V-3P5 was destroyed as a threat to the Senator. V-3P5 managed to send a transmission before it expired, warning Senator Pym that the kidnappers also held his wife.
