Ice Scrabbler
this large, warm-blooded reptile inhabited the planet Hoth, living in the icy caves of its frozen surface. Note that the Alien Anthology indicates that the ice scrabbler was a mammal, not a warm-blooded reptile. These canine rodents had wide, clawed paws and drooping ears. They were distinguished by the bony ridge that ran along their spine, and could be raised and lowered by specialized back muscles. This allowed the males of the species to show off their ridges during mating season, discouraging rival males while attracting females. Ice scrabblers fed on the lichens that grew inside Hoth's icy caves, and had incredibly well-developed olfactory organs to help them sniff out food.
