this astromech droid was part of the droid pool which was assigned to the Twi'leki scouts who set out to explore the moon of Uffel. When their ship crashed, R4-J9 was one of three droids which managed to survive the crash and repair themselves. R4-J9 went to work for QS-2D, surveying the mineral deposits of the moon and helping to set up mining operations to obtain raw materials from which to manufacture droids.
