a large rodent native to Tatooine, womprats resembled large, hopping rats, and were similar in appearance to the scurriers. Womprats were savage, opportunistic scavengers, and often overran garbage dumps and landfills. They reproduced at a prodigious rate, which allowed them to survive in the urban areas of Tatooine despite sanitation efforts to eradicate them. Despite their aggressive nature, womprats were communal creatures and very rarely attacked each other. A mutant form on womprat was discovered during the New Order, which had long, wing-like ears. Many scientists linked the mutant womprat's appearance to the Empire's disposal of toxic wastes.
