this series of maintenance droids was produced by Cybot Galactica as a follow-on to the original WED15. The WED-15-D3 was generally regarded as the first automaton to successfully employ treaded locomotion. The WED-15-D3 sold surprisingly well, given that the original WED15 was regarded as too costly to maintain.
