Variant Alpha
Doctor Vin Emil developed this strain of bacteria from the Rift Mutation, creating a dominant trait which would allow the bacteria to live longer if it didn't eat so much. It was released within the facility, where it bred with the natural form of the bacteria and bred the desire to continually eat out of their genetic makeup. He allowed the crew of the FarStar to obtain a sample of the Variant Alpha bacteria, in order for them to bring it back to the New Republic and use it to assist in colonizing and traveling through the Kathol Rift.
