Trade Commission
this was the group, formed by the Old Republic Senate, which looked for ways to enforce inter-system trade during the last decades of the Old Republic. The Commission decided that the taxation of trade routes was required in order to enforce the laws set up by the Senate. Many historians believed that this taxation forced the Trade Federation to blockade the planet Naboo in order to gain the attention of the Senate in order to overturn the taxation laws.
