this planet was initial hiding place for the plans that the Alliance stolen for the first Death Star. Princess Leia took the Tantive IV there as part of Operation Skyhook, on her way to Tatooine. She and Captain Antilles dropped the Tantive IV out of hyperspace near Toprawa only long enough to receive a transmission of the plans. Unfortunately, Toprawa had been placed under Imperial blockade, and they were attacked by the Devastator. They escaped back to hyperspace, but were tracked by the Devastator to Tatooine. The planet itself was devastated by the Empire, in retribution for its assistance to the Alliance. The planet was martially reduced to a pre-industrial state, and the inhabitants were subjected to all sorts of Imperial degradation. The Alliance continued to work toward freeing the planet's inhabitants, but the Imperial presence was often too strong. Following the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Imperials forced the natives to mourn his death. The perceived sincerity of the mourning determined how much food was given out.
