Terrain-Following Sensor
this starship component was used in a planet's atmosphere to monitor the terrain of a planetary body, providing detailed mappings of the ground formations, treelines, and other possible obstructions. The TFS could also be used to target a destination's location, and guided the ship toward it using various terrestrial formations as guidemarkers. A TFS could be set to fly as near or as far from the ground as desired, and was often used to fly a ship well below the normal operating position of ground-based tracking systems.
