a floating city like many others on Ithor, the Tafanda Bay was a self-contained ecosystem, mimicking the planet's environment while providing many technological necessities. The Tafanda Bay was one of the few Sky Yards-class herdships that were bound to planetary duty on Ithor, because much of its ecosystem was external rather than contained beneath transparisteel domes. It was commanded by an Ithorian named Momaw Nadon until a passing Imperial Star Destroyer threatened to destroy the planet if Nadon didn't cooperate. Nadon It has been the flagship of the Ithorian Grand Fleet for a number of years. Following the destruction of the Empire after the Battle of Endor, Momaw Nadon returned to take his place as the leader of Tafanda Bay. In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, and their destruction of the planet Ithor, the Tafanda Bay was one of the few refuges where Ithorians could live.
