this Gotal Senator to the New Republic was in charge of the Senate Justice Council during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. She oversaw the deposition of Senator Viqi Shesh, during the investigation of the events leading up to the debacle at the Battle of Fondor. When the Republic regrouped on Calamari, Senator Ranth was nominated as one of the candidates for the position of Chief of State. Many Senators worried that Ranth was not actually considering a true campaign, but was simply building up enough support so that she could withdraw at the last moment and sway the vote to another candidate in return for political favors. She maintained a good percentage of the vote, however, and was courted by both Fyor Rodan and Cal Omas in an effort to swing the vote. In the end, Ranth threw her support to Cal Omas. In return for her loyalty, Cal Omas promised Ranth a position on the High Council which oversaw the actions of the Jedi Knights.
