the Ssi-ruuk government and all its holdings, the Imperium was led by the Shreeftut. The Imperium was all but eliminated many years before the Battle of Yavin, when the aliens made the mistake of stumbling into Chiss-controlled space. The Chiss, angry that the Ssi-ruuk had dared to attack their colonies, struck back with incredible swiftness. Only the quick flight of the Imperium's core leaders maintained its existence. During the height of the New Order, Emperor Palpatine began negotiating with the Imperium for the use of their entechment technology, but their plans fell through with the New Republic's victory at the Battles of Endor and Bakura. Just prior to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, it was reported that the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium had been overthrown by the P'w'eck Emancipation Movement. In fact, the Imperium had been destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong, as part of their effort to gain a foothold in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy.
