this large landing area and trading post was set up by the New Republic near Bright Tree Village on Endor's forest moon, during the years immediately following the Battle of Endor. It was set above the forest floor about ten meters on huge columns, and was surrounded by a force field that kept the moon's indigenous lifeforms out at night. The post was manned on an as-needed basis, and staffing levels correspond to the New Republic's visits to the moon. The funding for the trading post came from the New Republic Intelligence agency, which used the post as a landing point after the Imperial garrison on the moon was dismantled. Although business was initially good during the years immediately following the Battle of Endor, Salfur saw profits tail off as travel into Moddell Sector became more and more hazardous.
