this was the name given to the explosions which destroyed all but one of the ancient Kathol launch gates. In the struggle between the ancient Jedi Knights and the Dark Jedi who had enslaved the Kathol, the launch gates were destroyed, ripping the hyperspace continuum in Kathol Sector. The result was twofold: the creation of the Kathol Rift and the entrenchment of Dark Side energy in the Sector.
