this man, a native of the planet Ession, was the chief of security for the planet's government. He was also an Imperial supporter, and worked with warlord Zsinj to make sure Ession was properly aligned. However, Raffin was getting on in age, and Zsinj hoped that he would be replaced by his second-in-command, Paskalian.
