this was the nickname given by New Republic starfighter pilots to the huge natural fissure found near the base on Folor. It was somewhat anomolous, given Folor's stable tectonics, to find a trench like the Pig Trough, because is runs for several thousand kilometers northeast of the base before turning to the northwest for an even greater distance. The New Republic used it for pilot training runs.
