Outer Rim Territories
a section of the galaxy which contains Tatooine and Ryloth. This sector of the galaxy has long marked the farthest edges of galactic expansion, since it represented a huge amount of space beyond the Inner Rim Territories, which were known simply as The Rim. For this reason, Emperor Palpatine committed most of his more heinous atrocities there. The Outer Rim was under the control of Grand Moff Tarkin and the first Death Star, until the Moff and his space station were destroyed in the Battle of Yavin.
