New Class Starships
these classes of starship design were implemented by the New Republic in the wake of the struggle against Grand Admiral Thrawn. The goal of the New Republic was to remove the ragtag ships which made up the fleets of the Alliance, and replace them with more modern, less-expensive warships. They were designed to be smaller and more mobile than the standard Imperial ships they replaced, and were developed to be defensive in nature.
