Memory Plaque
this ancient information storage device was used several millennia before the Battle of Yavin. These crystalline plates were impregnated with data storage devices, and could contain relatively huge amounts of information. However, the technology to read the information was lost over time as newer mechanisms for data storage were discovered. Only a few universities and archaeological corporations managed to save plaque readers for modern use.
