Melee

this young girl was one of the many slaves owned by Gardulla the Hutt. She grew up on the desert world of Tatooine, during the years leading up to the Battle of Naboo, but had no recollection of her parents or where she had been born. Growing up in this environment forced Melee to become tough, and she made friends with the local bully, Seek. She often made fun of the other slave children, although she found herself secretly adoring Anakin Skywalker. Melee served on Gardulla's cleaning staff, until her skills as a mechanic earned her a position on Gardulla's garage. With her knowledge, Melee outwardly stated that Anakin Skywalker's homemade podracer would never fly. Secretly, however, Melee dreamed that Anakin would win the Boonta Eve podrace and gain his freedom, so that he could later return to Tatooine and free the slaves. After Anakin's departure, Melee became friends with Shmi Skywalker, who taught the young girl to read and write. After Gardulla's death, Melee was sold to Bryyn Woolery, although she remained in Mos Espa for several years before Wollery moved to Mos Eisley. There, Melee was eventually freed when Woolery became wealthy, although she continued to work for him as a delivery agent. Several years later, she learned of the existence of a boy named Luke Skywalker. Melee set out to locate the boy, hoping that he would know something about Anakin. However, after tracing Luke to the moisture farm of Owen and Beru Lars, Melee found the homestead a charred ruin. She never learned if Luke was connected to Anakin.
