LOM-series Protocol Droid
this series of protocol droids was produced by Industrial Automaton, in an effort to break into the huge protocol market help by Cybot Galactica and the 3PO series. Industrial Automaton believed that finding a niche would be important, but worked to avoid a failure similar to that of the PD-series. The LOM was targetted for sale among the various insectile races of the galaxy, without specific physical cues that would limit or offend. Because Industrial Automaton used an AA-1 verbobrain and a TranLang III communications module, Cybot Galactica sued for copyright infringement and a variety of other crimes. Further production of the LOM series was put on hold, until the lawsuits could be resolved.
