this strange arachnid, native to the planet Dagobah, is actually a stage in the growth of the gnarltree. They are as large as a landspeeder, and are pure white in color. They have a large body that is covered with knobs and lumps, connected to ten gnarled legs. They flesh of the knobby spider is actually made up of calcified wood. The spider is a mobile root system spawned by a mature gnarltree; the spider then moves through the swamps, eating and growing and storing nutrients and energy. Once it is ready to become a full-grown gnarltree, it finds a clearing and uproots all surrounding plantlife. It then drives its legs into the ground and begins growing a root system that will sustain it for centuries to come. The spider's head hardens and becomes the trunk of the tree. Note that Episode I Adventures: The Ghostling Children claims that these creatures are a species of spydr.
