Industrial Automaton
this company was best-known as the producers of astromech droids, namely the R2 series. Industrial Automaton was originally formed during the Old Republic when Industrial Intelligence merged with Automata Galactica. The corporation became one of the original Contributing Sponsors of the Corporate Sector Authority. After a series of injuries resulted from faulty R-series astromechs, all of which had rocket systems built into their legs, IA was forced to cap the lifetime of all R2-, R3-, and R4-series astromechs at twenty years. Note that The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology claims that Industrial Intellect merged with Automata Galactic to form Industrial Automata, and that the merger occurred just before the Galactic Civil War.
