this was the name of the planet Coruscant, when the planet served as the center of the Empire. Emperor Palpatine declared that, because of its huge population and importance to the Empire, Imperial Center was a sector all to itself. This allowed Palpatine to establish the Coruscant Sector Fleet to protect his throneworld.
